Register of interests

Karen's register of interests

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ must provide details of their financial interests in the Register of Interests. They make an initial statement on becoming or being returned as an MSP. This is then updated with any changes they provide.

Here is the register for Karen Adam. The date of their initial statement was 02 June 2021.

Remuneration and related undertaking

Until 31 May 2021, when I resigned, I was a local authority Councillor for Aberdeenshire Council (of Woodhill House, Westburn Rd, Aberdeen AB16 5GB). I spent in the region of 40 hours per week on this role. I received a salary and use of a mobile phone and laptop. I estimate the total combined value of this remuneration was between £15,001 and £20,000 per annum. I received a final payment of salary on 27 May 2021.

Gifts

On 22 and 23 January 2025 I attended the Offshore Wind Conference 2025. My ticket to the conference was valued at £700 and was provided by Scottish Renewables (a trade body representing the renewable energy sector in Scotland of 24 St Vincent Place, Glasgow, G1 2EU). [Registered 17 March 2025]

Overseas visits

From 6 to 13 October 2024, as a co-convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Taiwan, I visited Taiwan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan). The trip was arranged by the Taipei Representative Office (Edinburgh) in the UK, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (of 1 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7PE). The Tapei Representative Office (Edinburgh) offers quasi-consular assistance to Taiwanese nationals in Scotland and represents the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the United Kingdom through a manner of cultural, academic, and economic activities. On my visit to Taiwan, I met a number of Government departments, as well as trade, faith-based and cultural organisations. The visit was made up of a cross-party delegation all of whom were, at the time of the trip, members of the Cross Party Group on Taiwan. The total cost of the flights, hotels and ancillary expenses was £8,800. These costs were met entirely by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as detailed above.
