Recognition of David Finlay鈥檚 Contribution to Sustainable Agriculture

That the Parliament congratulates David Finlay, who is the co-founder of The Ethical Dairy in Dumfries and Galloway, on being awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC); acknowledges what it sees as his pioneering work in developing a sustainable dairy farming system that allows calves to remain with their mothers, and creating a model of dairy farming that includes ethical and environmentally responsible agriculture; notes David's longstanding commitment to integrating renewable energy technologies and promoting animal welfare, which has earned him multiple accolades, including being named as BBC Farmer of the Year in 2006 and winning the Holyrood Net Zero Award in 2024; recognises his significant contributions to SRUC’s research, education and knowledge exchange efforts, and commends his leadership and innovation in shaping the future of sustainable farming in Scotland.
