Celebrating ScrapAntics in Dundee

  • Submitted by: Maggie Chapman, North East Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 September 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18675

That the Parliament recognises the work of ScrapAntics, a social justice enterprise in Dundee established in 2016; considers that ScrapAntics has diverted over 120 tonnes of waste from landfill and incineration, putting resources back into the community for play and creative projects; further considers that by drawing on community art, recycling and education, the social enterprise promotes sustainability and equalities principles; understands that the staff and volunteers at ScrapAntics take the Loose Parts Play initiative into communities, providing space for play, creativity and art, and support people to overcome social isolation; notes that ScrapAntics activities are open to the whole community, with an emphasis on working with those that face challenges through disadvantage; believes that its work with the refugee, asylum seeker and international communities is of great value and importance, and wishes ScrapAntics the best of luck in all its future activities.
