  • Submitted by: Martin Whitfield, South Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 29 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18410

That the Parliament anticipates the launch of the East Lothian Archaeology and Heritage Fortnight 2025, which will run from 30 August to 14 September; notes that there will be more than 60 events over the course of the fortnight, including online and in-person talks, guided walks, excavations, re-enactments, exhibitions and workshops; recognises that the event is organised by East Lothian Council Archaeology Service with the support of the local history and heritage societies, the National Trust for Scotland and the Scottish Battlefields Trust; further recognises that the event is sponsored by AOC Archaeology Group, and celebrates the opportunity for people to explore some of the most interesting and significant parts of East Lothian’s past, including excavations by the 1772 Wagonway Project of Scotland’s earliest railway, guided walks to the site of the Battle of Prestonpans, as well as the opportunity to take part in a mini Traditional Skills Festival weekend at Dunbar Town House Museum and Gallery.
