That the Parliament congratulates Paddy Lillis on his retirement, after leading USDAW for seven years as general secretary; notes that Paddy has been a member of the union for his entire working life and first became a shop steward 43 years ago; considers that, under his leadership, USDAW won a key victory against fire and rehire, worked with the UK Labour administration to deliver a comprehensive set of enhanced employment rights and returned the union to membership growth, and welcomes his successor, Joanne Thomas, who is a former North East regional director, on her new role as the first ever female general secretary leading USDAW.
