Specsavers Wishaw Supporting Local Pupils Amid Cost of Living Pressures

  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 24 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18376

That the Parliament commends the staff at the Specsavers store in Wishaw for launching a dedicated collection point for essential stationery items to support local primary school pupils; understands that the initiative invites members of the public to donate spare pens, pencils, notepads, and other school supplies, which will be hand-delivered by staff to local primary schools ahead of the new academic year in August 2025; believes that this effort comes at a time when many families are feeling the strain of the rising cost of living and may struggle to afford necessary school equipment; applauds Specsavers Wishaw for stepping up to support its community in a practical and compassionate way, and encourages others to take similar action to help ease financial pressures on families and promote educational inclusion.
