Castleton Farm Shop Nominated for Two North East Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2025

  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 03 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17753

That the Parliament congratulates Castleton Farm Shop, based near Laurencekirk, on its two nominations in the North East Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2025; understands that the two nominations are Best New Food Product (Medium to Large) for its Castleton Farm Mayonnaise, and Rising Star Award for Megan Dorward; further understands that the awards recognise north east Scotland’s growing and nationally significant food and drink sector, and are delivered by Opportunity North East in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council; understands that food and drink is Scotland’s largest manufacturing sector, with the north east contributing an impressive 20% of Scotland’s total output, generating an annual turnover of £2.4 billion and supporting over 22,000 jobs across manufacturing, production, agriculture, and seafood processing; recognises that the Mitchell family has been farming at Castleton since the 1900s, and that today the family-run business grows and supplies fruit, manufactures food products, runs a café and farm shop, and is a key fruit supplier to most high street supermarkets, and wishes it every success for the final.
