That the Parliament congratulates the Hydrogen Fuel Racing (HFR) team at the University of Glasgow on being selected to represent Team Scotland at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge; notes that the annual challenge brings together students from around the world as they compete to design and build boats powered by renewable energy sources; understands that this challenge allows participants to explore new technologies, innovative materials and alternative propulsion systems that reduce environmental impact while maintaining nautical performance; recognises that the team is a core collaborator on the Vital Spark, a groundbreaking hydrogen-powered hydrofoil developed by PlusZero, in partnership with Forth Ports and a host of leading academic business, and industry partners; understands that the University of Glasgow Hydrogen Fuel Racing team has played a central role in developing this world-first prototype, showcasing cutting-edge sustainable propulsion technology, including the groundbreaking solid-state hydrogen storage system by Aich2 and advanced marine battery systems by EPTechnologies, working alongside student engineers at Heriot-Watt University, who have developed another vessel that will also represent Team Scotland at the upcoming challenge; believes that the contribution of the team reflects the spirit of the University of Glasgow’s innovation, sustainability and student-led excellence, as they lead one of the most ambitious hydrogen transport projects in the country, and wishes the team of student engineers well as they progress to the challenge.
