To ask the Scottish Government what estimate it has made of how much tax revenue from North Sea oil an independent Scotland could raise between 2015 and 2020.

The Scottish Government published an Oil and Gas Analytical Bulletin in March which forecast that oil and gas production in the Scottish North Sea could generate between £41 and £57 billion in tax revenue in the six years to 2017-18.

With up to 24 billion barrels remaining, it is clear that the industry will be a significant source of tax revenue for an independent Scotland for decades to come.

To ask the Scottish Government what public information is made available to promote energy efficiency schemes and how the public can distinguish between Scottish Government-supported initiatives and independent schemes.

Schemes supported by the Scottish Government are required to display the Scottish Government logo prominently as a condition of grant.

Scottish Government’s home energy efficiency advice and schemes, such as the Energy Assistance Package and Universal Home Insulation Schemes are promoted under the banner of the Scottish Government’s Home Energy Scotland Hotline. This is the single source of energy advice from the Scottish Government and the route to access all SG support. Since 2009-10, the Hotline and assistance available through it have been promoted in national public information campaigns incorporating TV, radio, press, direct mailing, digital, partnerships and localised promotions such as events and community liaison. Further information about schemes and details of how to get in touch/apply are available on the Scottish Government’s own website Greenerscotland.org and on Energy Saving Trust’s website, which is clearly co-branded with the Scottish Government.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will consider extending the requirements of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard to the private rented sector.

There is an existing statutory repairing standard for private sector landlords. The consultation last autumn on Homes That Don’t Cost The Earth sought views on whether a single common standard should apply to all properties irrespective of tenure and we will publish a long term Sustainable Housing Strategy in the first half of this year. The consultation highlighted broad support for setting up a working group to develop draft regulations on the energy efficiency of private housing and this group will be formed shortly.
