To ask the Scottish Executive whether the Caledonian Cheese Company in Stranraer is meeting the terms of its marketing grant awarded by the Executive for a new production line.
Answer
Three awards have been made to the Caledonian Cheese Company under the Executive鈥檚 Agriculture Processing & Marketing Grant Scheme for Lowland Scotland towards the provision of new facilities and processing equipment. The conditions pertaining to these grants will remain in place over the grant control periods. The company has to date met all the conditions relating to the grants.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether funding granted to the Caledonian Cheese Company in Stranraer to install a new production line was granted subject to the agreement that the new line would be used wholly to produce certified organic products.
Answer
Three awards have been made to the Caledonian Cheese Company under the Processing & Marketing Grant Scheme for Lowland Scotland towards the provision of new facilities and processing equipment. No condition has been placed on these awards which would limit the creamery to produce only wholly certified organic products.

To ask the Scottish Executive, with reference to its consultation paper, Technical Amendments to the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994: A Consultation Paper on Amendments to the Habitats Regulations, when it will announce the result of the consultation and when it expects to publish the proposed regulations.
Answer
The Scottish Executive is still giving consideration to the consultation responses relating to the amendments to the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994 proposed in the consultation paper to ensure consistency between the Regulations and the provisions of the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004. It is my intention to bring forward amendments to these regulations later this year.

To ask the Scottish Executive when revised guidance on the Integrated Transport Fund will be published.
Answer
There is no immediate intention to publish guidance on the Integrated Transport Fund (ITF), since substantial resources have already been allocated to delivering our Partnership commitments such as Edinburgh trams, the redevelopment of Waverley rail station and re-opening the Stirling to Alloa to Kincardine rail line. However, additional resources may be identified in the future, and the provision of guidance will be considered at that time.
Executive officials are always available to discuss at an early stage proposals from local authorities and others for public transport projects. Officials can provide an initial view on what detailed information might be required and the likelihood of funding being made available, whether from the ITF or some other funding stream.

To ask the Scottish Executive which local authorities it has been informed are preparing to submit Integrated Transport Fund bids for major cycling infrastructure projects.
Answer
We are not aware of any local authorities preparing to submit Integrated Transport Fund (ITF) bids for such projects. Since substantial resources from the ITF are already committed to the delivery of our Partnership commitments, we would not encourage local authorities to work up detailed proposals for any transport project until these have been first discussed with their usual contacts in the Executive.

To ask the Scottish Executive what provisions there are to ensure that the activities of independent private sector ethics committees, including the Edinburgh Independent Ethics Committee for Medical Research, are made public.

From 1 May 2005, when committees reviewing trials in healthy volunteers are required to comply with the conditions in The Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 (S. I. 2004, No. 1031), the committees will be required to produce a report on the committee鈥檚 activities in relation to clinical trials of medicines, by financial year.
