To ask the Scottish Government when applicants to the Families and Communities Fund will be informed of whether they will receive funding.

The applicants to the Families and Communities Fund were informed on 2 October 2020 that, in light of the uncertainties associated with the continuing pandemic and the need for stability, Ministers had decided not to run the new Fund in the financial year 2021-22.

Instead, and to provide continuity at this time, Ministers have decided to extend for a further year, the Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention & Adult Learning and Empowering Communities (CYPFEI & ALEC) to provide funding for those organisations currently in receipt of funding. This approach will provide a further£14 million in 2021/22 to the Third Sector to continue to support children, young people, families, adult learners and communities.

A list of CYPFEI & ALEC recipients and the funding they received in 2020-21 can be found at . It is expected that awards made for 2021-22 will follow this model.

Arrangements for funding from April 2022 will be outlined in due course.

To ask the Scottish Government how much it has allocated to each local authority to fund the Self-Isolation Support Grant.

The Scottish Government will reimburse local authorities for the cost of the payments, as well as additional administration funding to manage the scheme. The distribution methodology is currently being considered by the joint Scottish Government and COSLA Settlement and Distribution Group, with a view to seeking COSLA political leaders approval on 30 October. Subject to approval, individual local authority allocations can be provided shortly after this date. Our current estimate is that the grant payments could cost £11 million for the remainder of the current financial year.

To ask the Scottish Government how much it has received from the UK Government to fund the Self-Isolation Support Grant.

The UK Government recently confirmed an additional £700m guaranteed consequential funding for Scotland, but has not provided a breakdown of how any of the consequentials provided so far relate to particular announcements in England. We will continue to press the UK Government for further support so people will not be forced into hardship because they are doing the right thing by isolating and stopping the transmission of the virus.
