To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on the outcome of the investigation into the circumstances relating to the delay in an ambulance reaching Richard Brown, in Glasgow, in November 2021.

It is not appropriate for the Scottish Government or Ministers to comment on or intervene directly in individual cases relating to patient care.

We are aware that, following the tragic incident involving Mr Brown, the Scottish Ambulance Service has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. The Service has been in regular contact with Mr Brown’s family and have confirmed that they will meet with the family again to discuss their full findings once their investigation is concluded in mid-March 2022.

To ask the Scottish Government (a) how much funding did each project receive and (b) how many jobs were created by each project as a result of the 2020 round of the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund.

To ask the Scottish Government how many projects were funded as a result of the 2020 round of the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund in the (a) Midlothian, (b) East Lothian, (c) Scottish Borders, (d) Dumfries and Galloway, (e) South Ayrshire, (f) East Ayrshire, (g) North Ayrshire and (h) South Lanarkshire Council area, broken down by the (i) name of, (ii) cost of and (iii) number of jobs created by, each project.

I refer the member to the answer to question S6W-04826 on 13 December 2021. 26 Projects received recommendations of support totalling up to £24,145,384 as result the 2020 round of the fund.

No projects from Midlothian, East Lothian, Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire or South Lanarkshire Council were recommended from the 2020 round.

Projects supported in Scottish Borders, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire Council are detailed in the following table with figures taken from the applications for funding made in 2020. These are ongoing capital projects.

To ask the Scottish Government what ministerial meetings or discussions have been held with East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership about returning suspended services, including inpatient services, to the Edington Hospital in North Berwick.

I have had regular discussions with the Chief Executive, NHS Lothian but have not specifically met with the Chief Officer, East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership to discuss the Edington Hospital in North Berwick.

On 17 January, I met with delegates from East Lothian and listened to their concerns about Edington Hospital and underlined that decisions about local provision are best made locally. The decision when to re-open Edington Hospital is to be made by NHS Lothian and East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.

However, I expect any decision that is made to take into account the needs of the local population, and ensure an appropriate level of service are in place to meet those needs.

To ask the Scottish Government what additional support it has provided to Historic Environment Scotland to enable Tantallon Castle, Dirleton Castle, Seton Collegiate Church and Hailes Castle, in East Lothian, to reopen.

The Scottish Government provides Historic Environment Scotland with considerable funding: a total of £72.9m in 2020-21 and £75.9m in 2021-22. Historic Environment Scotland is responding to the safety concerns identified at the properties in care using its existing resources of both Government funding and other income.

I can confirm that while there is restricted access at these specific sites in East Lothian, there is still public access available to the grounds of Tantallon Castle, and to the grounds, exhibition and shop of Dirleton Castle.

The Scottish Government will continue to discuss the sites with restricted access regularly with Historic Environment Scotland, whose programme of prioritised inspections will inform the timescale for reopening.
