The Official Report is a written record of public meetings of the Parliament and committees.
The Official Report search offers lots of different ways to find the information you’re looking for. The search is used as a professional tool by researchers and third-party organisations. It is also used by members of the public who may have less parliamentary awareness. This means it needs to provide the ability to run complex searches, and the ability to browse reports or perform a simple keyword search.
The web version of the Official Report has three different views:
Depending on the kind of search you want to do, one of these views will be the best option. The default view is to show the report for each meeting of Parliament or a committee. For a simple keyword search, the results will be shown by item of business.
When you choose to search by a particular MSP, the results returned will show each spoken contribution in Parliament or a committee, ordered by date with the most recent contributions first. This will usually return a lot of results, but you can refine your search by keyword, date and/or by meeting (committee or Chamber business).
We’ve chosen to display the entirety of each MSP’s contribution in the search results. This is intended to reduce the number of times that users need to click into an actual report to get the information that they’re looking for, but in some cases it can lead to very short contributions (“Yes.”) or very long ones (Ministerial statements, for example.) We’ll keep this under review and get feedback from users on whether this approach best meets their needs.
There are two types of keyword search:
If you select an MSP’s name from the dropdown menu, and add a phrase in quotation marks to the keyword field, then the search will return only examples of when the MSP said those exact words. You can further refine this search by adding a date range or selecting a particular committee or Meeting of the Parliament.
It’s also possible to run basic Boolean searches. For example:
There are two ways of searching by date.
You can either use the Start date and End date options to run a search across a particular date range. For example, you may know that a particular subject was discussed at some point in the last few weeks and choose a date range to reflect that.
Alternatively, you can use one of the pre-defined date ranges under “Select a time period”. These are:
If you search by an individual session, the list of 成人快手 and committees will automatically update to show only the 成人快手 and committees which were current during that session. For example, if you select Session 1 you will be show a list of 成人快手 and committees from Session 1.
If you add a custom date range which crosses more than one session of Parliament, the lists of 成人快手 and committees will update to show the information that was current at that time.

Yes. Thank you, convener. I have a couple of questions.
Quite a depressing picture is being painted of where we are at in Scotland. It is for the Government to get a grip of the situation.
Why do you think, or are you concerned, that other buildings have not been included in Scotland that have been included in England鈥攆or example, hotels, office buildings, hospitals and schools? Obviously, those are not all buildings that people sleep in, but why are we taking a different approach in Scotland to buildings that, clearly, the public would think would be captured?

[Inaudible.]鈥攚ant to talk about, but that is a significant issue.

Good morning. It was concerning to hear from the first panel the thought that, in recent years, we have seen a lack of political leadership on the matter. I hope that you will try to change that, minister, and ensure that there is progress. As an Edinburgh MSP, I have individual constituents who have had to use freedom of information requests to get any information. I hope that your commitment to communication will move forward at pace, because many people across Scotland feel that they have just been left. They are understandably waiting for developments, but they are not getting any updates. I think that it is important to put that on the record.
Ivan McKee made a couple of points about orphan properties. What is the current number of orphan properties that have been identified among the buildings?

On that point, we heard from the previous panel that the Scottish Government is responsible for the procurement and reporting around SBAs. Would you consider reviewing that such that known developers did that work? Concerns have been highlighted to us in previous meetings that we are asking developers to take someone else鈥檚 workings and provide a solution. Is there an opportunity within the agreement to change that to make it easier and increase capacity?

In relation to other models around the world, have we missed an opportunity to look at, for example, the national health service? I know people here, in my region and in Edinburgh, who have not gone back to work because the childcare offering is just not effective for them due to the time that it takes to cross the city and the lack of flexibility, sometimes, in NHS shift patterns.
Do we need to look at public services? Since we are trying to achieve a few outcomes鈥攏ot only providing the opportunity for childcare but also getting people to come back to work in our public services, with the workforce challenges there鈥攚hy have we not looked at the NHS providing that in-house opportunity to actually cater for real-life experiences?
Does anybody want to tackle this question?

Some of my questions have already been answered, but I want to ask a few further questions on the topic of eligibility. How can we avoid income thresholds becoming a disincentive for parents to increase their earnings? Do you have any views on that specifically?
