Meeting date: 7 May 2025

If the SFC has to return money to the Scottish Government, which would have been the case with the 拢10 million that it then gave to Dundee university recently, why will things be any different if some of that money comes from an underspend in apprenticeships?

Tertiary Education and Training (Funding and Governance) (Scotland) Bill

Meeting date: 7 May 2025

Douglas Ross

I am sorry, Mr Yeates, but we need to watch the time. The committee is currently considering a bill鈥攖he Education (Scotland) Bill鈥攂ig amendments to which could be made this evening that would change how much that bill will cost.

However, SDS has given us a ballpark figure for the cost of the Tertiary Education and Training (Funding and Governance) (Scotland) Bill鈥攊t has said that it will cost 拢30 million. Mr Boyle, the fact that you have not been able to provide even a rough calculation of what you think that the bill will cost is something that I would like you to take back to the Funding Council.
