Background on the inquiry

The UK internal market was established in law by the UK Internal Market Act 2020 (IMA) as the UK prepared to leave the EU. Further constitutional arrangements, like common frameworks, will be important to its operation.

On 13 September 2021 the Committee launched a call for views on this inquiry. The call for views closed to new submissions on 29 October 2021. The Committee received 17 responses.
